Hey Guys,

Today I am going to blog about a show named #Game On.

#Game on is a video on cyber safety on the internet, social media use and online gaming addiction. The purpose of the video is to show the effects of cyber bullying, what can happen if you send photos to people you don’t know and the effects of gaming addiction.

At the start of the show the groups of actors discovered their problems- gaming addiction and photos put on social media as a joke or sent to people who you may not know. During the show the friends and family of the main actors started to realise that they were not acting like they usually were and when they asked what was wrong they always got angry and upset. The other scenario that was happening during the show was that someone went on someone’s else account and posted a picture, that was not nice and hurt the person’s feelings.

Some positives of Game On are that is shows how friends and family can help you get over your addiction, it also shows what you post and send online can affect the person you sent it to or the person the picture or comment is about. Game On also explains how you can still play games and go on social media, but just limit your time and know who you are posting to. In the show the two boy’s characters love playing their game but didn’t realise that their addiction was taking away their family time and some of their consequences involved having to talk to the principle of their school.

Some of the negatives in this film would be that the trust and faith in some of the friendship groups was lost because, in the scenes about the boys, their other friends were getting upset that they never hanged out anymore and in the scenes with the girls, they were upset because they thought they could trust their friends but someone was not being truthful in their group.

I believe that this show would be good for 9-13 year olds, this is because it is a time when most of us get social media and need to know the advantages and disadvantages of using it. I would rate the show 7/10, the show did portray important messages, but the acting and way they did it could have been improved.
